Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas is everyone’s favorite Baja playground for the party atmosphere and the resort beaches. But there is another side to “Cabo”.
The Details
- If you come to Cabo San Lucas by RV, bus, etc. there is precisely one place you can easily stay. At the end of route 19 you will find Medano Beach Parking, and yes, it’s right on the beach. It’s a little pricey, but what isn’t in Cabo San Lucas?
- There are a number of beach bars and restaurants right beside the parking area, and the food is wonderful at all of them. There are also on-beach massages, and I highly recommend that activity as well.
- The party district is walkable from here and it takes between 20-30 minutes, depending on your level of happiness. 🙂
- From the parking area, there are tour boats which can take you out to the arch and the remote beaches like Lovers Beach and Divorced Beach. You can walk closer to town and take water taxis cheaper, but the tour guys also give you a feel of the whole area from the sea before dropping you off. It’s worth the extra bucks.
- When you get to Divorced Beach (and it’s named that because it’s actually two completely different experiences in one, both the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez) … look for the guys selling fresh chocolate clams. They’ll shuck them in front of you, mix them with veggies and flavor, and you’ll eat them right from the shell. Super yummy!

On a Personal Note
Yes, you can certainly go down to the party district, spend lots of money, and have a blast. But there are other options. Like what we did. We did enjoy one short night down there, but it honestly broke the bank. We spent the next few days right around the parking area, which was (while not cheap) cheaper.
Neither one of us is particularly in love with Cabo San Lucas, but it is worth a couple-day stop.
