San Felipe
San Felipe is the first major town you’ll discover when you come down from Mexicali. It’s got a beautiful malecon, restaurants, and a general good feel. It’s also deceptive, as many folks just decide that this “Is Baja” and don’t go further. Don’t fall into that trap.
The Details
- We stayed just outside of town in an RV park called Club De Pesca RV Park and was right on the beach. Full hookups and just inches from the water. It’s a tight fit in there, but there is a larger parking in the back area (still on the beach) without hookups. There is a small store there as well.
- In town you will find the malecon, or the “boardwalk” along the ocean. There are way too many restaurants to list, but we loved the food at Mariscos La Palma. get the steamed clams, they were wonderful. There is also a “hidden” ice cream shop called Thrifty Ice Cream which was recommended to us, and they were right to do so.

On a Personal Note
We only stayed one night, so I don’t have much more to tell you. The malecon area is jumping with food, shopping, and bars. And if we weren’t more interested in pressing on and discovering Baja (it was our first road trip here) we would have stayed a few more days.
Perhaps on the way back. LOL!
